Communities
Nigerians.ca
A long-running community platform created to serve Nigerians in Canada and strengthen access to useful information and connections.
Visit Nigerians.caThe problem
Useful information for Nigerians living in or moving to Canada is spread across service providers, community organizations, professional networks, and government sources. Finding a relevant business, professional, event, or settlement resource can require searching in several places.
Who it serves
Nigerians.ca serves newcomers, established Nigerian-Canadians, international students, and people planning a move to Canada. It also supports Nigerian-owned businesses, professionals, service providers, community organizations, cultural and religious groups, student associations, and event organizers.
What the public platform provides
A community directory and practical resources organized around the Nigerian-Canadian experience.
Directory and local commerce
Businesses, professionals, restaurants, churches, vendors, groups, and associations organized for discovery across Canada.
Settlement and immigration
Arrival guidance, immigration pathways, student resources, housing, jobs, and money-related settlement information.
Nigerian and consular services
NIN enrollment-centre discovery and guidance for finding High Commission, passport, and consular information.
Community and events
Events, discussions, groups, student associations, marketplace activity, and city-level community discovery.
Editorial and practical guides
Articles covering settlement, community news, businesses, professional profiles, events, culture, and city-specific guidance.
Member connection
Account-oriented discovery for networking, friendship, dating, and mentorship.
Origin and stewardship
The project grew from Kanmi Obasa’s experience of looking for a centralized community resource after moving to Canada. Nigerians.ca identifies Kanmi as its founder.
Its continuing purpose is practical: bring useful community information and connections into one public platform while keeping each listing and resource understandable in its own context.
A community utility
Nigerians.ca combines discovery and guidance rather than presenting a single case study. A visitor can move from finding a professional or local business to exploring settlement resources, events, community groups, editorial guidance, and member connections without leaving the platform.
Use and verification
Directory listings
A listing does not by itself confirm current licensing, authorization, operating status, or endorsement. Visitors should verify a provider before relying on a service.
NIN and consular information
Centre status, appointments, fees, and High Commission information can change. Visitors should confirm details with the current provider or official government source before travel or payment.
Immigration, legal, tax, and financial information
These resources are informational and should be checked against current official guidance or advice from a qualified professional.
Dynamic information
Event, job, housing, and service information changes over time. Publication on Nigerians.ca is not a guarantee of availability or outcome.
